Versailles is a Louisiana Gulf community populated by Southeast Asian refugees who settled there after the Vietnam War. Forced to evacuate because of flooding by Hurricane Katrina, the families returned to find that the City of New Orleans was dumping truckloads of toxic debris in a landfill right next to their homes. The Versailles community’s next steps are the subject of S. Leo Chiang’s empowering documentary.
